Nestled on the outskirts of Hue City, Tịnh House is a peaceful place for a three-member family of a married couple and their young daughter. The house is designed with the desire to create a living space that connects children with nature to freely explore and nurture their childhood.
The architects skillfully integrate the large old-tree canopies into the design, creating a harmonious picture between humans and nature.
Tịnh House with its 3 main parts is drawn inwards, creating a sense of privacy but still being close to nature, so that each family member can find relaxation and connection.
At the front part of the house, a spacious garage and garden area are set up, where the family can enjoy early morning tea on a daily basis or outdoor BBQ parties with loved ones and friends on special occasions. A small wood stove brings a cozy feeling, reminiscent of the simplicity and tranquility of an old-fashioned life.
The slope leading to the garden area is designed to be one level higher than this part of the house, creating a perfect solution to protect the living space from the rainy and stormy season, while harmoniously connecting the interior with the outside nature. The transition between the garden and the house is a spacious porch, where the family can gather to read books, have a chat, or simply enjoy the fresh air in the early morning. The entire living space opens to nature through this porch, catching natural light indirectly with less extreme heat.
The wooden attic is designed as a small library, providing a cozy space for family members to immerse themselves in their favorite books. Tịnh House uses typical local materials along with traditional construction methods. As a result, the house not only owns a rustic vibe but also has the long-lasting durability.
The roof structure is inspired by traditional roofs, creating a rhythm of rising and falling for the overall architecture. The sloping roof system helps to drain water quickly and increases the durability of the house, suitable for the local climate. Tịnh House is not only a shelter to protect family from extreme weather events in Hue, but also a space for the bond of love between family members.
