Project Description
For Steffisburg, a swimming pool is to be built. But it should not be a conventional indoor pool.
It starts with the concept, a wave. The shaft should enclose the entire building, with the roof as a cloth stretched over it. In order to allow enough natural light, a mullion-and-transom façade is created around the building and the roof is supplemented with round roof holes. The roof holes form spongy patterns and give certain zones additional light.
Further, the building should not be subject to monopoly use. There should be a sports area, a spa and a restaurant / club / bar. These functions define the shape of the roof in their arrangement. The floor connects the individual areas and has impressive elements such as pools and outstanding elements such as the individual body for rest rooms, sauna or changing area. The connection between the floor and the roof takes place via the wooden structure. The supports of the structure additionally zone the building into three parts. The interplay between the structure and the space body results in ever new perspective covers and deep vistas into different spaces.
