The main subjects of the modern storey-addition in Tyrol were the picturesque mountain scenery of the Stubai Valley as well as the building owner’s parents, who can be characterized by their deep rootedness in the Tyrolean region and their young-heartedness. Their personality should provide a philosophical backdrop to be considered throughout the planning process. As a result, the architecture can be interpreted as an homage to both the client’s parents and the beautiful Stubai Valley.
The implementation of the guiding philosophy was accomplished by integrating the shape of a summit cross into the floor plan, creating a crosswise layout that was carried on into the roof areas, resulting in a complete freeform. The structure of the alpine landscape was integrated into the architecture by referencing edged rock structures as well as gently curved valley floors, representing a modern storey-addition amidst the Tyrolean Alps.
The loft-like interior design with strong ties to natural materials creates a unique combination of tradition and modernity. The deliberate selection of local resources creates a superior living comfort for its residents.
