THE TIDE LOBBY transforms an outdated coastal lobby in Koh Siray, Phuket, into a dynamic multidisciplinary space that seamlessly integrates a hotel reception, retail shop, and café. Through the strategic acts of opening and connecting, the design establishes a fluid sequence of spaces from the public entryway into an immersive interior experience.
The design concept weaves the hotel’s signature blue brand identity (Indigo) with warm, sand-toned light brown elements and natural wood
The Lobby Area: Features a sculpted ceiling crafted from layered white woven fabrics that evoke the sensation of sitting beneath rolling ocean waves and sails, softening the atmosphere above the curved concrete reception counters.
The Retail Shop: Utilizes open wooden shelving as a loose spatial divider, seamlessly separating the lounge and souvenir areas while optimizing natural ventilation and visibility.
The Café Space: Amplifies spatial perception through an 'explosive space' defined by high, dramatic curved architectural arches, guiding guests toward a long oak table and a window-facing bar that frame the lush outdoor views.
This Phuket hotel renovation project acts as a strategic business catalyst, fusing hospitality and retail design to maximize commercial value. The open-plan layout optimizes energy efficiency, while material selection is meticulously managed to strictly align with the project's construction budget—ensuring exceptional cost-effectiveness and a sustainable return on investment.
