As the project is situated at the unique location right next to one of the major urban parks “Benjakitti Park”, which soon to become the urban forest of Bangkok, “Forest” then becomes our inspiration.
The landscape concept is to extend the urban forest from the nearby park to the site. This extension is not only help to define landscape characteristic for difference functions but also extend the green corridor in making the city greener at the larger scale. The forest a-like environment also creates the micro climate which create the desirable environment for many outdoor activities.
The forest is started from the mountain space at the west area created by the series of landforms with densely plants of various planting species. It forms the space for people to sit and hideaway from the surrounded environment. It is also integrated with the rain garden where rainwater is collected for recycling.
The narrative of the forest continues to the main atrium space where dry creek becomes the sitting for difference gathering spaces and event areas. The dry creek will continue toward the main drop-off at the east side. At this point, the space will be more open like a meadow which surrounded by landforms with transplanted of the existing tree in the middle as the focal point, this drop-off plaza can be turn into the event plaza for festive activities.
Along the edge of the site there will be feature walls that curve in and out between the densely plants of tall trees to create the visual impact from the main road toward the project and create the forest setting for the project.
At the 3rd floor the forest characteristic will be more humid and serene like a lagoon where people can sit and held outdoor meeting, strolling and event amongst the densely plants of tropical planting and aquatic plant species and water features. There will be urban farm at the terrace to promote well-being of the urban life.
Beside the integration of the forest context from the nearby park, the landscape on ground floor is to ensure that the urban life will be seamlessly integrated with the project by allowing pedestrian and bicycle traffic to penetrate through the site and connected directly to the subway station and also providing bicycle facilities within the project to promote bicycle society.
By creating the green environment like forest it will encourage people to use outdoor environment to work and play and stay healthy, it is the new urban life that can only happen at The ParQ.
