Located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City, Parsons the New School of Design was the first institution to offer programs in fashion design, advertising, interior design and graphic design. Today it is one of the seven divisions of the New School. Undergoing major expansion, Francis Cauffman was retained for design services to adaptively reuse a Gold Coast mercantile building for the New School’s Innovation Center. The intersection of advanced classrooms, labs, lounges, workshops, an event hall and support spaces will result in a dynamic academic hub. Brand identity was also an important part of the planning and design process to establish the upcoming Innovation Center as a destination before and after scheduled coursework.
