For years Muhammad Ali had hoped to create “a place to share, teach and inspire people.” Involved from the project’s earliest stages, LHSD+AP helped realize Ali's vision, collaborating to develop the framework, define objectives and locate a site for the center. Situated on the riverfront in Louisville’s cultural district, the 93,000 sq. ft. center illuminates the values by which Ali lives. Working in partnership with architects and exhibitors, LHSA+DP designed a building and a visitor experience that explores the far-reaching impact of Ali's epic life. From his fame and fortune as world heavyweight champion to his roles as civil rights activist and Olympic torchbearer, each exhibit and audience engagement reflects Ali's values, encouraging visitors to pursue their own greatness.
