Perched on the verdant slopes near Bogor, The Aranya Cliff explores the tension between weight and lightness through a bold architectural gesture. Conceived as a design development proposal, the project responds to extreme topography by extending a cantilevered concrete mass outward from the hillside, reducing ground disturbance while opening uninterrupted panoramic axes toward Mount Salak, Mount Perbakti, and the distant city lights below.
The building is vertically stratified to balance operational efficiency and guest privacy. Logistics and parking are embedded deep within the slope, forming a structural plinth that supports multifunctional spaces, wellness/ spa, gallery, a restaurant, and a series of hotel room suites hovering above the forest canopy. This layered organization allows the architecture to gradually transition from earthbound to elevated.
At its peak, a rooftop park and pool transform the building into a shared viewing platform, blurring the line between architecture and landscape. Floor to ceiling glazing dissolves the boundary between interior spaces and the surrounding pine forest, allowing light, mist, and vegetation to become part of the daily spatial experience. The Aranya Cliff is envisioned not merely as a hotel, but as an inhabitable observatory that frames nature as its primary architectural element.
