Set across the nineteenth and twentieth floors of Ayaan on Ahmedabad’s Bopal–Ambli Road, this 4,200-square-foot duplex apartment is conceived as a quietly luxurious home for a family of three relocating from Kolkata. Rooted in their Gujarati heritage yet attuned to a contemporary urban lifestyle, the residence balances cultural familiarity with the openness and sophistication of high-rise living.
The arrival sequence sets the tone with a layered composition of timber, metal, travertine and soft cement finishes. Beyond the main door, the vestibule unfolds as a refined threshold, where a circular fluted backdrop, bronze-toned mirror storage and restrained lighting introduce depth without visual excess. From here, the home opens into a series of interconnected spaces, each distinct in character yet unified through material continuity and carefully controlled transitions.
The drawing room is defined by muted grey fluting, sculpted beige surfaces and warm leather upholstery, while a fluid ceiling softens the geometry of the room. Sliding telescopic glass partitions allow the drawing room, dining area and kitchen to function independently or as one expansive social setting. At the heart of the duplex, the double-height dining volume brings natural light deep into the plan and creates a strong visual connection between both levels. An onyx-topped dining table, cascading pendant lights and a curvilinear feature wall lend the space a sculptural presence.
The family lounge offers a more relaxed expression, combining travertine cladding, lime-based textures, a contemporary television unit and a traditional swing positioned by the window. Nearby, the mandir is imagined as a serene sanctuary, where intricate haveli-inspired detailing is softened by a neutral palette and fluted elements, seamlessly integrating devotion into everyday life. A sculptural staircase and a long upper-level passage act as visual connectors, reinforcing openness while guiding movement through the duplex with quiet architectural clarity.
Private spaces are designed with individual identities while maintaining the apartment’s restrained language. The master suite layers rock-finished surfaces, micro-fluted panels, metal accents and warm timber, complemented by a window seat and concealed access to the dressing area. The son’s bedroom introduces radial arches and rich tan tones, while the guest bedrooms explore softer palettes, tactile wallpapers and understated geometric detailing. A tucked-away office provides a calm, light-filled workspace, and the home theatre combines acoustic performance with plush comfort.
