This is a building were the energetic and ambient charge are not treated as an addition, they show the architecture and the use of their materials, trying to break the traditional dichotomy between Architecture and Machine.
The building is conceived as a huge container were different elements produced by the industry are assembled. The carrier structure opens the tridimensional nucleus and a portico, as the support for big vain slab; and has the efficacy of an infrastructure, covered by a light surround and diverse, able to activate and filtrate the exterior climate to obtain the interior comfort conditions.
The building clearly shows three different areas:
The central zone contains the operator service. It works as a large atrium acclimatized, were the cover involves the space and with its different slopes, layers and mechanism, reacts in complement with the contribution of the adjacent areas depend on the seasons for an optimal energy uptake and an equilibrate distribution of the air (hot and cold) in all the spaces.
The south zone –very related to the first one-, contains the operator service. It works as a huge greenhouse that supports the other spaces producing the hot they need and evacuating it when it’s necessary.
The north zone that contains the whole management offices consists on a large humidified air camera shadowy, that works as a refrigerated floor when is traversed by the hot and dry air during the summer. This space with his green courtyard works as a thermal regulator and provides freshness to all the spaces.
That’s the way the machine has been dimensioned as a complementary support of the climate functioning from the own architecture in the production of his own interior comfort.
The results forms should been read as the expression of these functioning.
The building has three principal zones that support a good bioclimatic behaviour: 1. the greenhouse in south; 2. the huge space of the call center or central atrium with the work platforms; 3. the north zone with his semi-exterior courtyards. The three zones are separate between them by the concrete nucleus, vertical communication nucleus.
The design and constructive systems work interconnected and support the climate control of all the areas. The greenhouse in south, supports the comfort in the other spaces during the winter. The central atrium works, fundamentally, depending mainly in the addition and distribution of air (hot and cold) of the ceiling. The north space with his green courtyards works as a thermal regulator and provides coldness to all the spaces.
The ceiling has a main function in this bioclimatic work; some elements of the ceiling with its own mechanisms allow this general climate control of all the building.
The infrastructures are a support to the comfort and they are thought to supply the needs that are not supplied by the bioclimatic contribution of the building.
The actives climate control systems have, on one hand the support of solar thermal plate for the production of hot water and for the climate control systems (heating and refrigeration with a heating pumps and a absorption machine). On the other hand, enthalpy recuperation of the exterior or renovation air (free-cooling). Some controls are able to make work the passive systems that existed before the traditional climate control systems.
It’s expected that the value saving per year should be of 18.000 euros and the amortization of the duplicity of the infrastructures needed to satisfy the actual comfort demanded by the society is about six years.
At the same time as the bioclimathical architecture, the Project proposes constructive systems that take into account as well their efficiency. They established structural systems and industrial enclosures that allow a good quality of fabrication, a facility and a quick begin of the work (building construction in dried) and the possibility to recycle all the elements.
