This is a renovated mansion that stood on a hill overlooking the sea. The rich nature of Yakushima is constantly changing, and every moment shows delicate beauty. The light is reflected as if it is bleeding through the glossy ribbed panels and ribbed glass, drawing the ever-changing scenery deep into the room. Not only can you enjoy the scenery directly from the window, but you can also enjoy the delicately changing colors and light with the seasons and time, the twinkling of the stars at night, and the natural wind and sounds that resonate in the house as if you are "observing." The Japanese-style room, characterized by rare Yakusugi alcove pillars and coffered ceilings, has been reupholstered in charcoal gray tatami, reflecting the blue of the sea and sky. When the old lighting was removed, the undiscolored boards remained white. I changed my perspective and thought that this discoloration was an art created by time, and by decorating a vase with it as if it were a full moon, I hope that by doing so, I can notice the beauty that I usually overlook. The space offers a new way of interacting with nature, sharpening our sensibilities and allowing us to discover new riches. This sense of living in harmony with nature leads us to a more sustainable way of life.
