Located on the northern edge of Tokyo’s popular Showa Kinen Koen, HCM’s newest Sun City Palace engages itself with the park. Showa Kinen Koen has been envisioned by RBA, BAMO, and SWA as a unique extension of the park. A family of four crescent-shaped towers, which rise from a spine of public space, frame the park views and help create a community. Visitors and residents follow a Ginko tree-lined entry road deep into the site on their way to the main entry. Between the wings of the building are various gardens and paths that allow residents to experience a lush and varied landscape. Sun City Palace Showa Kinen Koen shares the mission of the park: to allow the healing qualities of the natural world to restore and rejuvenate residents, and creating environments that enable senior citizens to live with vigor, dignity and a sense of community.
In collaboration with SWA Group, and BAMO.
