Bennetts Associates delivered the new Student Services Centre for the University of Cambridge. The project comprises refurbishment of the Grade II listed Arts School and ground floor of the adjacent Old Cavendish Building and Rayleigh Wing with construction of a new interlinked building. It is situated in the historic heart of Cambridge on the New Museums Site which has been transformed following the demolition of redundant buildings including the former Examination Hall building.
The key requirement of the project brief was to bring together a number of existing university services and organisations including; Cambridge Admissions Office, Cambridge Trust, Careers Service, Centre for Teaching and Learning, Disability Resource Centre, International Student Office, Student Administration and the University Counselling Service to provide a centralised location for student support. These had previously been accommodated in a variety of buildings around the city centre.
