The Location: One of the most beautiful properties in the Hötting district of Innsbruck.
The Brief: A residential development with four housing units.
The Design: The design was inspired by the existing building—a single-family house dating from the 1930s, distinguished by a prominent tower-like circulation element at its northeast corner. This feature was reinterpreted in the new building's design and expressed through the use of two contrasting façade materials: plaster and aluminum.
To meet the client's high standards of quality, the circulation core was not placed externally to preserve the building's volume, but instead was located within the building, as befitted the site. Inside, the staircase is defined by a sculpted exposed concrete wall with glazed openings and oak wood elements, creating a refined and welcoming spatial experience.
While the building presents a compact appearance toward the street, it gradually opens up toward the gardens. A small, publicly accessible paved square to the northeast, together with a carefully designed landscape concept, completes the overall composition.
