ABOUT
The envisioned kindergarten is a thoughtfully designed architectural complex that offers a contemporary, secure, and engaging learning environment for children. Spanning a 5,480 m² site, the building itself covers 1,490 m², with a total developed space of 3,380 m². The remaining area is dedicated to outdoor amenities, featuring expansive green spaces (1,600 m²), interactive playgrounds, a 400 m² sports field, and a central courtyard designed as an open-air theater.
Our vision was to create a kindergarten that immerses children in a world of imagination—where dedicated Music and Theater rooms bring fairy tales to life, fostering self-expression and harmonious development. We aspired to craft a welcoming atmosphere that supports skill-building, encourages curiosity, and deepens children's understanding of the world around them, ensuring their happiness and growth.
CONTEXTUAL INTEGRATION AND ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTIONS
The project was taken over in a conservation phase on a rugged terrain with a 7-meter level difference. The adopted solution was to terrace the land, allowing for the harmonious integration of the building and outdoor spaces, reducing descent angles, and creating safe and accessible areas. Four distinct access points were provided at different levels to facilitate circulation flows.
The structure utilizes a reinforced concrete frame with brick infill, ensuring resilience and durability. The building is designed with an energy-efficient concept, incorporating geothermal pumps and air-to-water heat pumps for reduced energy consumption.
FUNCTIONAL ORGANIZATION AND INTERIOR DESIGN
The interior layout has been restructured according to contemporary educational requirements, using a color-coded system for intuitive orientation. Thus, entrances and staircases are highlighted in yellow, while each group has a designated space marked by a specific color and assigned number, aiding in quick zone recognition.
Classrooms are predominantly oriented towards the southeast and southwest, maximizing natural light intake. For acoustic comfort, perforated gypsum board panels and suspended acoustic panels have been used. Interior finishes are made of eco-friendly, durable materials, and the furniture is crafted from natural wood and plywood, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for children.
OUTDOOR ARRANGEMENTS AND PLAY AREAS
The outdoor spaces have been designed according to modern trends, promoting an ecological environment that supports children's motor development. The playgrounds preserve the natural terrain, offering various sensory and motor experiences, encouraging exploration through natural elements such as logs and controlled elevation changes.
The inner courtyard is configured as an atrium, functioning as an open-air theater, a socializing space, and a venue for educational and artistic activities. The northern section of the site has been transformed into a park exclusively for children, providing a green relaxation area.
SPECIFIC FACILITIES AND AMENITIES
The kindergarten includes a 310 m² festive hall, a 340 m² sports hall, and a water area comprising three small pools (2 x 3 m and 3 x 7 m). Sanitary facilities are adapted to different age groups, fostering children's autonomy in developing personal hygiene habits.
This project is more than just an educational institution; it is a space that stimulates imagination, harmonious development, and children's independence. Through innovative architectural solutions and the integration of a modern educational design, the kindergarten creates an environment conducive to discovery, exploration, and joy.
