Sochi Radisson Blu IOC Hotel and Convention Center is planned as a 5 star hotel with 500 rooms and a convention center to host International Olympic Committee for Winter Olympics 2014. The project contributes to the city life by creating an urban square at the seaside in addition to acting as a landmark on the coastal settlement of Olympic area and Adler region. The hotel building has services to its 500 rooms with its spacious lobby area, fitness and spa center, three restaurants and bars in the courtyard. The hotel building has a star plan scheme which enables to create alternative recreational areas in addition to providing sea view to 70% of the hotel rooms.A wide courtyard that hosts the main recreation area is designed with terraces, pergolas and swimming pools. The facades are designed considering the balance between solids and transparency with natural materials providing the identity of the building. While the solid parapets and floor slabs emphasize continuity and horizontality at the facades, the glass surfaces add dynamism to the facades of the building through the color changes caused by the movement of the sun reflected on the glass. The project received Highly Commended Award at European Property Awards 2014 in Hotel Architecture category.
