Travelling can be fun, exciting and inspirational, but it can also be draining and tiresome. Our client was a busy financier, travelling back and forth between Malta and New York. Small Apple became our client’s haven away from the chaos and action. It is an oasis in the middle of the Mediterranean.
Small Apple is a gateway between New York and Malta. It is multicultural in essence, capturing the multi-dimensionality of the Big Apple. The links between the two locations was intentional – a psychological cushioning to keep a sense of familiarity between the two environments.
Splashes of yellow and orange and city-lights wallpaper bring the cityscape into the apartment. And verticality and linear elements elicit that city feel without overdoing it.
The MJMDA project team took advantage of the apartment’s particular orientation to transform a room in the middle of the apartment into a receptacle of natural light and greenery. They created the apartment’s very own Central Park, a hub of nature that ensures wellbeing through natural light and ventilation.
