On this portion of the river Seine, the setting for the city’s eastward driven urban
development, the construction of a bridge linking the left and right banks aims to
complete an urban composition marked by the new French National Library and the
terrace of the large Bercy urban park.
A footbridge located here represents the necessary physical link between two
districts and their inhabitants. The footbridge becomes a symbolic and vital landmark in the river landscape marking the growth of the
city towards the east.
“My aim was to cross the river Seine in one stretch,
without intermediate piers, and naturally link the
two river banks without any cumbersome constructions. I wanted somewhere to pause in the middle of this 300 metre promenade, somewhere to stop and take advantage of the river , breath in the air, appreciate the light and admire Paris." DF
