Key concept: Cool, Smart and Creative.
We wished for the people working at Shui Wan 1979 Shenzhen Trade Center to remain focused on their work but at the same time to feel at ease in a simple yet welcoming environment. Cool and smart for their way of working but with a bit of playfulness in it to let out their creativity, the concept of Cool, Smart and Creative chosen for the office is also linked to the image held of Metropolises and of the people living there.
The first two keywords of the concept are expressed through the materials while creativity is conveyed through the design. By connecting those three keywords with the chosen design, what could appear to be scattered pieces at first are put in order and receive a meaning.
The design lies in the overlapping of cubic forms. With the idea of breaking out of the conventional frame, several frames are overlapped and expend into one big shape/figure. This new shape will then also expand into another shape to create a new object like no one has ever seen before. Workers inside of the building will see the design everyday so we wished for it to become a creative stimulus to them.
Each floor is indicated with giant numbers put in front of the elevator doors to catch the eye as soon as people reach the upper floor.
While creating the design for the Shui wan 1979 office we hoped that by combining all of those elements together, the space would expend even behind the 3 concept keywords to create a simple yet special, deep atmosphere for the office's workers.
