Eco Tower is an environmentally inspired architectural development with emphasis on sustainability and energy efficient elements. It is modeled after the lush rain tree foliage that serves to provide a canopy and shelter for its occupants and users. Eco Tower is sprawled across 9.37 acres in the heart of Setia Eco Park in Shah Alam, Selangor

Eco Tower is a commercial building that also houses Setia Eco Park’s sales gallery. The sky garden on the first floor acts as an observatory deck to its immediate eco-environment. In addition it forms the connection bridge to the commercial retail area at the adjacent Bee Hives. The sky garden is also the place where office workers mingle freely among themselves and with the public, giving a temporary respite from the enclosed office environment.

Overall Eco Tower employs energy efficient principles and ecologically sustainable design suited for the tropics such as cross ventilation, wind scoops, large overhangs, single depth rooms for maximum natural light, simplified and stand alone cooling to facilitate flexible working hours. All the large canopy roofs with their ventilation slots use the “venturi” effect to extract and draw air flows into the buildings.

The concept of bringing the outdoor indoor is accentuated by the extensive use of glazing but with large overhangs ranging from 5m to 8m to protect the internal spaces from direct sunlight and glare. This will minimize the energy used for air-conditioning while the natural day lighting brings indirect sunlight deep into a building, connecting people to the rhythms of nature while providing pleasing illumination at a fraction of the cost of even the most efficient electric lighting.
