Selva Houses
Selva houses explore the possibility of reconciling everyday urban life with a more immediate experience of nature. Located in Alto de Pinheiros, one of São Paulo’s traditional garden neighborhoods, the project comprises eight detached houses conceived as individual dwellings immersed in a continuous landscape.
The architecture is organized around the presence of vegetation, treated not as a backdrop but as an active part of the spatial experience. Developed in collaboration with the landscape designer Caterina Poli, the garden introduces native species around the swimming pool, along the circulation areas, and into the visual field of the interiors, reinforcing the sense of living within a planted environment.
Openings distributed throughout the four levels bring natural light deep into the house and establish constant visual connections with the exterior. The main living spaces unfold between the ground floor and mezzanine, creating a generous vertical volume that opens directly onto the garden and blurs the boundary between interior and landscape.
The more private areas adopt a quieter and more protected character, while still maintaining views toward the surrounding trees. Through this alternation between openness and retreat, Casa Selva seeks to create a domestic environment in which architecture and landscape become inseparable parts of everyday life.
