The hangar, originally designed in 1921 by architect Chr. Olrich, is one of the first pre-stressed concrete structures of its size in Denmark. The conversion is an architectural installation within the landmark building. Three white steel structures form the framework of the office and between them are common work areas. Ranging between two and four stories in height, each structure is “dressed“
with large parachute fabric curtains allowing the inner spaces to open and close from the rest of the office. On the upper decks, there are common spaces with large scale pillows and hammocks for employees to relax.
In 2011 Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter was involved in the reprogramming of the hangar to house students of The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
