The
conference hall among the extensions of the building complex, being processed
by Paul Valery, architect for .... years, for restoration into its original
condition as a contribution to the cultural and artistic activities of Garanti
Bankası, a strong financial entity of Turkey, has been conceptualized as a
project by our Company as a result of the negotiations conducted with Garanti
Galeri.
The conference hall, located
within the extensions of the building is handled by us in terms of conceptual
set up while we process with an approach, purely contemporary yet in a way
reaching out to the future concepts, without making any references to the
building.
The wavy pattern with internal
walls in the form of an inner crust is made up of flexible materials to allow
for an oscillation within time, yet conventional wooden material is also used
to set a barrier against future expansions of the form. As a result of the examinations on the graphic
models of sound wave impedances we made during the examination of this inner
crust form, we tried to reduce the values of such graphics including wavelike
variances down to the inner crust details.
With the concept extension created at this
stage, the surface coating with wooden intervals reflected to the details is
provided to make positive contributions to the convergence of sounds within the
hall and to the reverberation times of internal and external sounds.
Similarly, with the grid-like
structure of these inner walls, the contradicting appearances of mechanical and
electrical installations, audio and lighting systems, fire detectors are
eliminated by placing these items within this modular structure, thus another
positive contribution is introduced.
Due to the dominant nature of
the form, the details, armchairs, carpets and stage details are kept quite
plain and finished in compliance with the general rules.
