Rzeszow is the capital
of the Low Carpates region in the south of Poland. The new Administrative
Center is concieved as a collection of "city parts" piled up to form
a building. Different shaped floors are assembled in order to create a
continuous void through the building, a sort of a vertical landscape. The shape
of the building appears to be very simple and massive seen from outside. Once
inside, the visitor discovers the void and the different hanging gardens. In
font of the building a large covered area marks the big square. This is a place
where official ceremonies can be held under any meteorogical conditions – heavy
rain or sun. The marquee is made out of the same metalic elements as the solar
protections on the facades of the main building. The blue cross-shaped entrance
is inspired by the cities coat of arms.
