RAUH-Welt Begriff (RWB) is a car-tuning company founded by Japanese car tuner, Akira Nakai, who travels around the world
modifying Porsche 911s in order to create one-of-a-kind RWB Porsches for his customers. The Thailand operation opened in 2012 on Soi Ramintra 101 with a distinctively masculine design by VaSLab who sought to emphasize the company's identity through the use of black on the exterior and building elements with sleek and dynamic contours. Inspired by the notions of speed and consummate craftsmanship, as well as various elements from RWB's body kits, the architects created two buildings clad in matte black aluminum connected together via a covered walkway rendered in the same material. From a
distance, it appears like a large sculptural object striving to express the dynamism of automobile design. The front building contains the showroom and car tuning studio, with offices on the second floor, while the back building houses the customer lounge and service garage. For the interior, mainly industrial materials were used, such as polished concrete and epoxy for the floors. For the walls, some parts were left as exposed brickwork while others were plastered over. To further stress the notion of dynamism, the forms of openings, which include skylights, air vents, doors and windows were slanted to follow the shape of the buildings. The architects have designed the architectural elements in this project to be a physical manifestation of RWB's brand identity.
