Rosso is a family-friendly Italian restaurant located at the Bukovel ski resort – part of the Hrybova Khata hospitality complex. The bright, welcoming interior is defined by a warm, sandy-red palette, creating the feeling of a relaxed family getaway in the mountains.
The name Rosso – meaning “red” in Italian – references key symbols of Italian gastronomy: tomato sauce, red wine, and the emotional culture of shared meals.
The restaurant was created by the team behind Hrybova Khata – a concept centered around mushrooms. At Rosso, this theme continues, expressed through distinctive details and design accents.
The color palette draws inspiration from the fly agaric – one of the most vibrant and recognizable mushrooms. A gradient across the walls transitions from deep red at the base to soft pinks and warm sandy tones above, shaping the overall energy of the space.
Biomorphic forms throughout the interior echo the natural structure of a mushroom – columns flow seamlessly into the ceiling, while large windows feature softly rounded corners. Even smaller details reinforce the concept – for example, a bathroom faucet shaped like a chaga mushroom.
The large communal tables – with terrazzo-effect tops – are cast from concrete. The space features furniture by Ukrainian brands Woo Furniture and noom. Custom-designed pendant lights above the tables – reminiscent of wild beehives – were created specifically for the project using 3D printing.
At the heart of the restaurant is an open kitchen, with a large pizza oven as its focal point. Food preparation is intentionally visible to guests – contributing to a lively, engaging atmosphere.
A children’s area is seamlessly integrated into the main space. It is designed not only for play but also for hosting culinary workshops. The children’s chairs are by the Ukrainian brand Noom.
“Rosso is a venue created by the team behind Gribova Khata, so it carries the DNA of the entire complex while offering a more dynamic, family-oriented atmosphere. We achieved this through bold colors, gradients, and custom design solutions,” says Dmytro Bonesko, co-owner and art director of YOD Group.
