The city of Le Pré Saint-Gervais is characterized by an extremely high urban density in the continuity of the suburbs of the city of Paris. The Square is perceived as a structuring public space on the scale of the district, with the coherence of the 19th century façade of the A. France school in the background. France school, while the heart of the block occupied by the R. Parks school in the Art Deco style offers a complex reading with external limits that remain to be treated, in particular on the rue A. France street and the adjoining parcel of land of the neighboring college. The existing buildings are in a rather poor general condition, with obsolete technical equipment.
In order to meet the requirements of a modern, efficient, user-friendly school facility that is flexible to future developments, we propose to include the square in our thinking in order to ensure the relevance of the project on the scale of the district and to enhance the existing building.
We have chosen a restructuring that takes into account the potential of the existing building and provides optimized interior living spaces. The new school, which preserves the traces of the ambition for education of the 19th century designers, launches into a great 21st century momentum, towards a friendly and flexible, ecological, connected and sustainable school.
