Roovido, located under the characteristic arcades of Cesena’s most important square, Piazza del Popolo. It is a venue inaugurated in June 2020 in the space where an ancient pharmacy once stood. The choice of the name stems from the desire to express the idea of the “roughness” of the raw materials used to make the plates used in this establishment, mainly products related to bread making. Similarly, the artistic suggestions from which the initial concept arises refer to the works of the famous Alberto Burri, one of the greatest exponents of poor art of the 1960s in Italy. The use of “rough” and “poor” materials, such as gauze and canvas, are used as decoration and wall covering and refer to the works of the great artist. Among the identifying materials of the place there is the foliage, in antaimoro paper: material that derives from the drying in the sun of the bark of the Avoha plant. This is re-proposed in vertical elements that hover in the air, giving movement and character to the environment. The sheets, together with the tracks on which they are hung, accompany the path and identify the different areas, without ever dividing them completely. Finally, for the flooring, it was decided to keep the original cladding of the old pharmacy, as to preserve the historical heritage of the place.
