Rooted Socialite is a new experience in the consumption and gathering around the drink Kava. The effects of this root beverage provide guests a sense of calm. Mood boosting and relaxing effects create a tendency for conviviality with friends and strangers alike. We reflected on spaces evoking the same sense of community and developed the space around the aspects of a friendly dinner party.
The service area is synonymous with the domestic kitchen as the host prepares drinks while guests gather informally in conversation and arrangement around the hosts active hub. The limited preparation of drinks for service allows a loose barrier from back of house to customer area than is typically expected in food service establishments.
Different experience zones throughout the linear interior include a flexible communal lounge in front, the middle service bar with open kitchen, and in the rear a private bench settee under the diffused glow of the rear soffit. Natural materials including the locally harvested wood from the family forest compliment the warm tones and sophisticated details including elements with playful twists are found throughout the space for guests to discover as variations on design moments.
