An existing five storey building with two basement levels, originally designed to promote Toronto’s bid for the Olympic Games, was completely renovated to house a streetfront, storefront studio and broadcast space for programming in the Citytv tradition. In addition, the building accommodates newsrooms overlooking Yonge-Dundas Square on the third and fourth floors for CityNews and OMNI News.
Key features of the design include new floor-to-ceiling glazing at the ground and second floors offering views of active programming to passers-by, and floor-to-ceiling glazing at the third and fourth floors afford dramatic views to the city from the shooting areas. In addition, new signage and broadcasting screens add life to the streetscape as the action within is broadcast for view by residents, workers and visitors alike. A rooftop patio offers outdoor space overlooking the urban activity below.
