At Ribs & Burgers Bella Vista (Norwest), we went back to the grass roots of the brand. Understanding the origin of Ribs & Burgers allowed us the opportunity to create something special for the community in Bella Vista (Norwest).
At Ribs & Burgers, we like to think we are opening our home through authentic family recipes, local produce and out people that care about you. We took this as our departure point in the design brief where we focused on creating an atmosphere that is synonymous to the heritage of the butcher however keeping it comfortable and homely.
To achieve these touch points we focused on the true nature of materials. From the raw texture of timbers, to the tiled walls – a nod to the butcher heritage of Ribs & Burgers. To allow our dinners to feel right at home, we understood we will need to achieve a longer lingering time in a fast-casual setting. With our comfortable booth seating and ambient lighting, blurring the lines between inside and outside dining, a true homely atmosphere is created.
It was important for us to illustrate the legacy of old recipes and traditions passed down from generation to generation, fundamental to the quality of Ribs & Burgers.
Keeping to the trends and times of modern society, a graffiti style mural lines the walls depicting our family butchers, keeping a watchful eye on the kitchen and dining area. This mural brings a punch of colour into the store creating a family orientated environment.
Understanding that Ribs & Burgers is a fast-casual dining restaurant, a cleaver use of spatial planning is utilised. On entrance, a variation of thresholds, through the use of floor materiality, guides customers to a quick and understandable purchase. While the use of the ‘aged butchers’ rail’ is used as a navigation tool directing dinners to the comfort of our ‘home’.
Like all families, we believe the kitchen is the heart of the home. That is why our open display kitchen, where you can see the flames of the grill, the dancing of chefs and the smell of freshly basted ribs welcomes all with open arms.
The butcher man is to live in very store and is the common link between every Ribs & Burgers. We are proud of where we have come from
and where we are going. The butcher man is the authority looking in on all things Ribs & Burgers.
Our aim is to illustrate the story of a family owned, quality neighbourhood butcher that can be assimilated by the community. We allow our customers to make the conclusion of the Ribs & Burgers family members allowing them to be apart of the family. Thus, we leave the personalities of the mural to be concluded by the customer.
Ribs & Burger's iconic butcher rail is reinvented with a new look and purpose. The hanging boards idea is to state to customers, new and various items on offer while using this opportunity to identify important locations eg: condiments station; bathrooms etc. The butcher rail allows customers to navigate through the store while holding call-outs of the offerings. eg: following the butcher rail to the condiments station; calling out the flame grilled burgers over the pass area.
Each Ribs & Burgers anchors itself into the community it finds itself in. We want the customers to be proud of their community and their Ribs & Burgers. Thus, we calling the area name out. Focusing on the small details creates a holistic well thought-out design. Adding the gold trimmings to the opal pendants visually paints the theme of each store making it feel homely.
