Rheanne White, whose renowned career has included work with such notables as Lena Dunham, Paul Rudd and Amy Adams, wanted to launch her personally branded flagship hair salon to further her influence in the fashion world. When Rheanne saw the available space at 14 Jay Street in Tribeca, she immediately fell in love with it—but the project came with significant challenges.
The salon’s construction involved the interior renovation of commercial space
at the first floor and cellar of a landmark district loft building in Tribeca. With just $165,000 split between construction and finishes, the design team boiled the design down to its most essential elements.
The client supported a refined, limited finish palette that drew inspiration from the history of Tribeca, modern minimalism, the client’s name of White and the existing rich vintage wood floors. The result: a project with clean lines and clear intent, making a strong statement with a limited budget.
Designed by sun|tect: architecture principal Andrew Haner with contributions from client side project representative Andrew Parsons, this project was completed in late 2013 with a formal opening date of Nov. 1, 2013.
