The residence unveils a narrative of personality, privacy, and sophistication. This vacation retreat was designed to create a harmonious encounter between contemporary living and the serenity of the countryside, making the most of the uniqueness of the sloping terrain and its proximity to a dense tropical forest. The project's placement is strategic, with the house positioned below street level. This choice gradually reveals the residence, creating a discovery effect along the path that leads to the main entrance, while showcasing the integration of the landscaping with the architectural volumes. The house is articulated by two perpendicular planes that strategically distribute the internal program, directing openings and circulation to provide different perspectives and light effects throughout the day. The intersection of the planes is crowned by a gentle curve that softens the orthogonality of the design in a unique way.
Upon entering the ground floor, a spacious area with a high ceiling is dedicated to family and social gatherings. In the lower portion of the transversal plane are the game room and home theater, designed for leisure and entertainment. Above, the transversal plane opens up to a room with a fireplace, a dining/living area, and a kitchen that, when connected to the longitudinal plane, transitions into the gourmet area. This space is directly integrated with the pool and deck, extending the indoor environment to the outdoor leisure area.
On the upper floor, the layout includes five suites organized along the longitudinal plane. These suites are arranged around a central void that offers a view to the lower floor, creating a sense of spaciousness and visual connection between the levels. Complementing the space are a kitchenette and an office, designed to provide additional functionality and comfort. Each suite has a balcony that opens to the landscape, allowing residents to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
The materiality of the residence is a soft integration of textures and tones that harmoniously relate to each other. The light-toned metal slats on the upper floor converse with the concrete slats and stone of the lower block. The wood on the slender eaves reinforces the horizontality and lightness of the volumes. The roof is an expression of lightness, with strategically positioned metal pergolas that highlight light and shadow movements, adding a poetic element to the design.
Landscaping plays a crucial role in softening the placement of the blocks, guiding paths, and gently integrating the residence with its surroundings. The permeability and interaction with the exterior are evident, both through the glass planes that allow continuous visual connection and through the direct integration with the leisure and social areas.
