The former site of Guangzhou Fire Department is located at No. 47 Wenming Road, which was originally the Guangzhou Central Fire Administration of the Republic of China. This renovation project is a series result of repairs and modifications based on the achievements of original design.
The two-story historical building facade of the site has been preserved and repaired, and the original plan has been traced back to restore the tower. The Venice Chapter is the principle in the whole process, where history has been fully respected. During the repair and renovation process, efforts are made to preserve the original structure and materials, showcasing the East-meets-West cultural characteristic of the recent Guangzhou to people. Due to the continuous occupation since its completion, it is necessary to repair the aging and damaged parts of the building to enhance structural safety. At the same time, the streamline of internal space has been reorganised, simultaneously fire safety has been optimised. And the functional layout of fire vehicle parking spaces, auxiliary rooms, offices, and dormitories are integrated, with the main focus on improving the professionalism of facilities and enhancing the efficiency and rationality of the space. This project aims to restore the appearance of the Guangzhou Fire Department in 1927, while achieving a comprehensive balance between restoration and actual use.
