In the Betuwe, there are several monumental farms that show the rich history of the region. This includes this very dilapidated old farm with stable and barn. The clients asked us to make a design here so that an ideal family home can be created. The old stables have been transformed into a large living room with a 'floating' master bedroom. The kitchen/diner has been positioned in the old house, with the entrance completely moved to the new corridor, a transition space between inside and outside, but also the connection between the renovated house and a restored barn made according to original drawings.
The exterior of the farm and the barn have mainly been restored, except for a beautiful, large skylight. The corridor has two faces. One closed, but quality-radiating facade to the entrance side, and one completely open facade to the large garden. The entrance side is covered in vertical copper strips, which goes very well with the materials of the farm.
