emersion DESIGN provided the Interior Design as a part of a Design Build team for the new Armed Forces Reserve Center and Army Reserve Program Regional Readiness Sustainment Command Headquarters at Moffett Field near Mountain View, CA.
Moffett Field Command Headquarters has a construction cost of $76,558,000 and includes construction of three buildings totaling 270,000 sf.
The Armed Forces Reserve Center, Regional Readiness Sustainment Command Headquarters, and Fitness Center were combined into a two-story, 174,500-SF building including offices, fitness center, classrooms, an assembly hall, and an auditorium. The site included a running track around the perimeter of the compound. The Fitness Center portion of this facility includes locker spaces for 200 men and 200 women, plus full private showers and toilet room facilities. Outdoor access is provided to the all weather running track. Athletic flooring (1/2” thick) was provided in the Physical Training room, cushioned and with a waterproof finish suitable to be wet mopped. Wall finishes in the area complement the colors in the other areas of the building and provide more visual interest in this room from the typical office areas
The project also included a Unit Storage and Unheated Storage buildings and the Organizational Maintenance Facility.
Bentley BIM design was utilized to model building architectural, interior, structural, mechanical/plumbing, and electrical systems. The BIM model is being used for interference detection and for creation of final 2D construction drawings.
This project is being designed to a LEED Gold level.
