Red Bull, in collaboration with Studio Riebenbauer, approached us with a design concept and specific functional requirements for the new Athlete Performance Center in Santa Monica, CA, catering to both their top athletes and management team. Their vision was to seamlessly translate details from their renowned Austrian Training Center to reflect the unique coastal landscape of their new location in California.
The client initially contemplated developing the new training facility within a first-generation tenant space, but ultimately recognized the sustainability benefits of repurposing an existing, underutilized building. As a result, an 11,400 square foot shipping warehouse was transformed into a state-of- the art training and athlete management facility.
Our primary objective was to not only replicate but elevate the building’s core function: to provide world-class training and support to elite athletes while offering essential support functions for the organizational side of athletics. To see this detailed operation through, the project was reliant on the perfect equanimity of interior architecture, design, and performance needs. By co-locating these diverse functions within the same space, our aim was to encourage cross-departmental interactions and foster a vibrant arena for collaboration across various disciplines.
The harmonious union of creative design components and operational performance features created the perfect hub for Red Bull’s West Coast training operations.
