“No matter how tall or dense a tree is, it started as a seed.”
Ramia’s primary inspiration is the concept of a seed and its growth process, translated into functional and innovative architectural design that offers the locals an inmersive experince into Tulum’s nature and biodivesity.
In the context of Tulum, where natural wealth is an inspiration, Ramia takes its main inspiration from a seed, representing the origin of life germinated in the earth, the starting point of any plant species. Conceptually, it maintains a close relationship with the social values sought to be developed in the project, representing the beginning of life and the process of mental and spiritual growth.
The concept translates into a series of buildings that include a gym, a space with dining areas and a pool and a sculptural entrance. An architectural route is drawn between these three spaces that relate to each other through materiality and function. Wood, concrete and water are presented in all of them, creating a direct reference to the natural and transformed context of Tulum.
The sculptural entrance is created by multiple wooden petals that emulate the first stages of a stem coming out of the soil. The second building is a concrete shell covered by a wooden petal that refers to the materiality of the entrance sculpture petals. The third and last building of the architectural route is the gym. It is made by a regular structure of concrete columns that support pots on their highest level. A swimming lane and landscape surround this building. The architectural program also includes amenities such as a pet park, playground, dining and seating areas and pool sites.
Ramia is a unique concept designed to elevate the vitality of the mind and spirit, experiencing the power of nature, freedom, and consciousness in one place.
