Situated at a crossroads between several growing neighborhoods, Raleigh Iron Works acts as a connection to the surrounding neighborhoods.
Two adaptive reuse buildings of the former Peden Steel Company, the Double Gable and Bow Truss buildings are redesigned as mixed-use office buildings. These two buildings with new carved courtyards, retail, food and beverage program on the ground floor create the heart of the new neighborhood.
The planning of the neighborhood creates a variety of public realm spaces and pedestrian links that provide intimate and more public passages. Phase 2 of the development will include two ground up office buildings, multi-family residential and a hotel.
New buildings are designed to be additive and complementary to the original industrial character yet still be modern in interpretation.
