Puerta Lomas is a house made specifically for a group of investors starting as entrepreneurs on the construction and real state business. The core concept of this assignment relays on designing a house with a flexible program that could fit multiple family structures looking for a residence on sale.
It consists of three types of spaces: closed spaces, semi-open spaces and open spaces. The program is not totally defined so people could decide wherever they want to assign their living room, dinning room, studio or terrace area as they bought the house. The only fixed program on the main floor is the kitchen and the patio. These spaces help articulate all the other flexible areas. The main floor is structured by concrete columns that create a very open space, only delimited by sliding windows and the walls of the fixed program.
In contrast, in the 1rs level all the programs appear as closed boxes that contain a very specific program (3 rooms with dressing room and bathroom). The rooms are sized so they can fit a family group from 4-6 people. Structure in the 1rst level works in a different way than on the main floor. All the boxes in the 1rst level rest on the girders and columns of the main floor. In this way, the structure reveals the open/close relationship of the house program.
Additionally to the original program, an underground parking was proposed.
As the lot is oriented east/west, wood ceiling is proposed as a way of covering up the sunstroke, and at the same time giving the room spaces a warm comfort sensation.
