The highway between Utrecht and The Hague was constructed in the eighties and over-built a large part of the area. The structure and organisation of the station area was very unclear and messy. The new design of the station area of Voorburg connects the station with the historical centre of Voorburg and the area of the Binckhorst, that is being redeveloped. The plan consists of different elements: the station square, ‘the Strip’, bus station, P+R, historical garden, pedestrian bridges, a park and a tram stop with a waiting space.
