Three story 1200sf new single family residence sited at the rear of a property in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, which houses an Edwardian aprtment over commercial storefront at the street. The house is accesswed by a private outdoor passageway through the front building, and is organized around a shared courtyard between the two buildings. An unexpected degree of openness and natural light is acheived within a very small building footprint of 500sf. The envelope's exterior materials include a cast chanel glass curtain wall, stainless steel fascias and Ipe wood rainscreen. Interior floors are engineered pecan wood over radiant heating. Living, diningf and kitchen are on the first floor and open out to the courtyard. The bedroom is on the second level, vertically opening to a small home office mezzanine, which itself opens to a small south-facing deck.
