IWAMOTOSCOTT ARCHITECTURE is an award winning and internationally recognized architecture practice established in San Francisco by Lisa Iwamoto and Craig Scott in 2002. We create innovative designs at all scales - with work ranging from art installations to interiors to buildings to visionary cities. We rethink the constraints of the everyday to create unique architectural syntheses of program, site, material and experience that are functional, distinctive and beautiful.
IWAMOTOSCOTT spend more time on fewer projects to ensure engaging and original results. We have paid attention over the past decade to hone our designs through a process of research and experimentation, and are leaders in the arena of architectural technology. We have been at the forefront of digital fabrication, design computation and materials for over a decade, and use this experience to contribute fresh ideas for the benefit of all our clients - whether the project is a piece of furniture, house, tech office, mixed-use building, or speculative vision for the future of the city.
IWAMOTOSCOTT are a design intensive office. All our projects are led by both Founding Partners with teams of excellent designers. The firm welcomes partnerships and expands at times to accommodate large projects and overlapping deadlines. The office is highly collaborative; each person in the firm while bringing unique talents is conversant in all aspects of the design process, and is asked to contribute ideas and critiques at significant stages of the project's development. We believe it is this working method together with strong project teams and client vision that makes for exceptional design.
IWAMOTOSCOTT's design work is widely recognized, with over 75 design awards and honors, including 19 AIA Design Awards at the local and national level, Architectural Record's Design Vanguard, The Architectural League's prestigious Emerging Voices, Curbed Groundbreakers award, Progressive Architecture Award, and numerous other architecture and interior awards. Our work has been published in hundreds of journals, and exhibited in over fifty museums and galleries, including MoMA, The Guggenheim, SFMOMA, Vitra Design Museum, and Artists Space. Iwamoto and Scott have lectured on the work of the firm at numerous professional, academic, and arts institutions worldwide, and are Full Professors in architecture at UC Berkeley and California College of the Arts, respectively. The partners have taught previously at University of Michigan, Harvard University, SCI-Arc, Cornell University, Syracuse University, Sydney University and Yale University.
