1.Idyllic Surroundings
Located in the farming area on the west side of Taoyuan Town, the private school in paddy field is adjacent to Xiangguo Temple, and tucked away in idyllic scenes featuring mountains and waters.
2.Poetic Landscape
Surrounded by pool waters with extensive lotus leaves, the sloping roofs look dreamy and exquisite. On the north side there is a wooden boardwalk connected to the paddy fields, perfectly fusing the building with idyllic surroundings. Overall, the construction is small yet elegant. Tucked away in mountains, waters, paddy fields and beautiful landscapes, it looks quiet, ethereal and detached from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
There is an orderly arrangement of internal physical frames and external surreal structures. The exterior part is formed by circular wood-like aluminum grilles extend along the obliquely staggered frames of the slopes, resembling the traditional roof; while the interior part is built by square rusted metal components cover the top concaves to form a caisson ceiling.
3.Zenic Space
The winding path along the waterfront leads to the construction through the circular square and the wooden boardwalk. The central cross is the core, where people can play the Chinese zither, drink tea, reflect, or meditate. From the center, there are idyllic landscapes, and natural mountain and water sceneries in the southern, northern, eastern and western directions. On the top, a caisson ceiling characterized by upward stacking of rusted metal components looks stately and solemn, and full of Zen. The waterside wooden platform surrounding the building has a positive connection with the waters.
4.Building Function
A Platform is built in the middle of the waters and a building is built to welcome sceneries in all directions.
The platform (16m*16m) built in the middle of the pool with the main entrance in the north. The construction is located in the center, with two square mirror-like pool respectively on the east and west sides.
The construction is about 60m2. The central main space can serve as a tea room, or for other purposes such as meditation or reading. The sliding glass door can be completely opened, allowing an extension to the beautiful landscapes on four sides. The four corners serve auxiliary functions, including tea preparation, storage, sanitation, and services, and help to form an enclosed space.
5.Building Materials
Materials that look natural and rustic are used to integrate the small construction into the environment. Fair-faced concrete, wooden column beams, imitation wood grilles, and bamboo sticks combine and contrast with black steel, rusted steel components, and transparent glass.
An orderly construction of wooden columns, wooden beams and wood-like grilles helps to form a traditional sloping roof, which looks ethereal, translucent and tucked away in the surroundings. The internal stacking of rusted steel components forms a surreal caisson ceiling.
The exposed clear-water concrete of the outer wall maintains the basic characteristics of the material due to the relatively rough production process.
The creation of Private School in Paddy Field is a perfect fusion of architectural design, construction and nature.
