The residence on the Mediterranean coast is seamlessly integrated into the landscape. The plot is located on the top of a hill, with panoramic views of the sea and the mountains. The concept was to create a sense of privacy and maintain the sense of untouched nature.
The site's only downside is the distance to the beach, which is multiple hairpin turns away. This prompted the idea of providing the hotel with its “own sea.” An oval pool over 70 metres long occupies most of the land area and became the centrepiece of the project.
All the architecture of the hotel is hidden in the surrounding landscape. Four principal villas are integrated into the space under the pool, each with a separate entrance and a wide terrace overlooking the coast. Next to the pool, there is a common lobby and smaller guest villas. A parking lot and mechanical rooms are fitted into the topography of the hill.
The interiors were designed by the studio Jean Nouvel Design. The sea-facing villas trace back to maritime aesthetic: white walls, wood flooring resembling a yacht deck, and skylights opening into the bottom of the pool. The interiors of the villas facing the other hills are approximations of natural landscape. Their walls are decorated with natural stone, and the sun rays fall through roof lanterns cut into the rocks.
