Nestled in the rugged landscape of Karpathos, this new boutique accommodation explores the intersection of contemporary minimalism and Mediterranean sensibility. Eftekton Architects & Engineers approached the interior design with the intention of crafting spaces that transcend mere functionality and instead evoke a sense of calm intimacy and timeless elegance.
The design strategy focused on the dissolution of boundaries between private retreat and immersive experience. Each suite is conceived as a spatial continuum, where the bedroom, bathing area, and lounge coexist fluidly. The integration of a freestanding bathtub within the sleeping quarters emphasizes the notion of restorative living, blurring the lines between domestic comfort and boutique luxury.
A restrained palette of earthy tones sets the stage for a tactile dialogue between surfaces. Vertical ribbed wall cladding, textured plasters, and woven natural fibers interact with warm timber accents to create depth and subtle rhythm. The choice of materials stone, wood, and fabric anchors the interiors to their natural context, allowing the architecture to resonate with the rocky island terrain outside.
Custom designed furniture pieces echo the architectural language of simplicity and proportion. The low-profile bed with its continuous upholstered headboard doubles as a spatial divider, while pendant luminaires in carved wood add a sculptural dimension. In the lounge, the organic curvature of the sofa softens the rectilinear envelope, reinforcing the overall narrative of balance between precision and comfort.
