This store is located in Oporto, near to “Museu de Serralves”, is a small shop with 40 (forty) squared meters.
The owner, an investor on the optics commerce, already had two other shops in two different cities, but with complete different concept.
The intention in this project was to create a space very similar to a jewel, and picking the idea of the name: “Prismóptica”, which means Prism+Optics, create a relation between the name and the proper shop. Every element on this shop was treated exactly like a piece of jewelry, and every detail was thought till the exhaustion.
The show window is represented by two elements that are intended to transmit the essence of the sunglasses and optic glasses, beyond the basic need, as an essential tool on everyday life. From the floor rises the lightning piece of art that supports the glasses, giving them a perspective of piece of art, and all this is involved by a “capsule” of prisms that give the shop the sense of the identity. All this set has a very futuristic and purist ambience since every element is white colored, from the prisms to the floor. This scenario also marks the entrance of the shop. On the interior, the line between the entrance and the exhibition is very well demarked and divides the two zones. On the floor the white transforms in wood, and on the walls, the white give place to the light grey. The sunglasses are exposed on shelving, studied to create a three-dimensional effect with the white and yellow fluor combo of colors, and are very detached thanks to the grey walls. The counter follows the same line of the “capsule” on the entrance. The counter service follows the same idea of the shelving and is located above the optic glasses shelving. The lighting system above the counter was designed to answer the necessity of great object/good light.
This project is on the shortlist of the international competition ISG Retail Week Interior Awards 2013, on two categories: Non-Food Design of the Year and Best Small Store.
