The former natural space on the eastern slope of the
Wildon Schlossberg with 2 ponds and an impressive
stand of trees shaped the design approach.
A main structural shell firmly anchored in the ground
offers a counterweight to the classroom tract which
floats above the natural space on supports.
The sweep of the classroom tract follows the course of
the grounds. The side facing the approach is open and
colourful, while the classrooms which face the forest
have individualised windows in natural wood casing.
Inside the building the focus is on easy of orientation
(main hall-functional tract-classroom tract), outside on
a complex integration of the natural space.
An existing wall of natural stone has been renovated and
continues the landscape on into the foyer.
In general, great emphasis was placed on the proportionality.
– All lines of sight are coordinated to a child’s
eye-level (glass enclosure on the corridor down to the
floor, floor-level windows in the classroom area).
