Located on a site of remarkable natural beauty, surrounded by a golf course, Residence Porto is designed to integrate with the landscape. In the subtle details of its volumetry and materiality, the pursuit of a balanced harmony for the extensive internal program has been meticulously crafted. The L-shaped plan is positioned at a slightly higher elevation than the front street, allowing for a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape despite the flat terrain. This approach not only creates a transitional experience but also invites exploration of both internal and external spaces.
The residence’s volumetry blends well-defined horizontal lines with corners that are either beveled, curved, or sloped, resulting in a dynamic form that evokes poetry and a distinctive versatility. The choice of materials, with light and earthy tones, aims to connect with the natural surroundings. Wood accents, such as panels and ceilings, combine with a corten-colored metal structure. A large, light-toned slatted panel on the upper floor volume emphasizes the desire for lightness, complemented by the exposed light concrete, which contrasts with the warmer tones of the ground floor.
The architectural composition opens up to the horizon in a contemplative manner. Large glass planes, strategically placed, establish a visual connection with the surrounding nature. Subtle elements such as pergolas and walls with inclined planes accentuate the interplay of light and shadow on the facade, bringing the natural movements of the day into the experience of the inhabitants.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted by rounded, inclined walls that guide the eye toward the spacious living room, facing the leisure area. This spatial organization is efficient, dividing the house into two main volumes: a longitudinal one that houses the private areas, including three suites, as well as a space for physiotherapy and a home office; and a transversal volume that concentrates the social and service spaces, such as the kitchen, pantry, and dining room. The proximity of leisure spaces, such as the sauna, spa, gym, and kids’ area, is emphasized by a retractable glass panel, allowing fluidity between spaces. This entire front block for leisure is bathed in natural zenithal light, ensuring privacy.
On the second floor, the master suite and three other suites are distributed along both axes of the L-shaped volume, accompanied by offices that offer a peaceful study and work environment amidst the tranquility of the countryside. This section of the house, facing the front facade, is protected by a metal slat screen that allows light to filter through while maintaining privacy. A long and slender metallic eaves projects over all the openings on the upper floor, subtly outlining the volume's contour with the softness desired by the architecture.
Internally, the residence adopts the same language as the exterior, where light and warm tones intertwine to create a harmonious and elegant unity, along with a carefully curated selection of artworks and designer furniture.
