Porto 19 is a nautical restaurant of Chef Mourad Berdiev, one of the founders of the Birch restaurant in St Petersburg.

When creating this project, we were inspired by allusions to nautical surfaces. The space can be divided into two parts. The first half of the room is the smooth and streamlined surface of a minimalistic marine reef, with raised wavy textured surfaces, similar to the patterns that water leaves on the sandy sea bottom. The marine space of the reef opens up and allows us to see the second world - a contrasting, warm, wooden world. This is the world of the kitchen where the cooks are working hard.

The focal point of the whole composition are the large rough wooden tables which are meant to gather the guests around. The tables, like debris thrown on the shore, interfere with the austerity of the composition and add a little chaos.

It's as if two elements, the marine and the man-made, collide here. The accent of the space is the composition of the large lamps resembling oyster shells, covered with a similar texture, which are suspended on sea ropes across the room.

The second space is on the opposite side, where a mirrored door hides a separate room for events and special settings. Once inside this space, guests will find themselves in the front lounge, which is an extension of the main hall.
